Del Staecker

Born on November 23, 1950, in Blue Island, on the Southside of Chicago, Staecker has led a wonder’s life like many on his early heroes.  His influences are as rich and colorful as some of the characters in his work.  Staecker was an early follower of writers like Alan Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and singer/song writer Bob Dylan.

Mr. Staecker graduated from The Citadel Military College of South Carolina, with a degree in history.  Following his life-long dream of becoming a writer, he locked himself away in a remote cabin in Idaho.

The result of such extreme dedication was “The Muted Mermaid”, which received critical acclaim upon its release in 2008.

Other works include “Shaved Ice”, “The Lady Gangster: A Sailor’s Memoir”, and “Chocolate Soup” which received the Military Writer’s Society of America’s Silver Award upon release in 2010.

An interesting man who’s led an adventurous life that few would have the courage to experience, you can find out more at Del Staecker’s website.

He and his wife currently live in Pennsylvania.
